Butterflies was written and recorded on Friday, January 15th, 1999 and is on tape #84. I give this song an A+ and I still play it today. There are about four or five songs from this era (1998 to 2000) that I wouldn't change a thing about. Mainly lyrically. I feel like it has taken decades to develop as a songwriter and a lyric writer and these tapes show a stage of progress. There are a few gems.
lyrics
Butterflies, butterflies
Leave shadows on a gravel road
Signs of life in dead man's eyes
Shadows on a gravel road
Ghosts of wind, a passing breeze
Like souls that have been unified
Dead man lies before my knees
I daydream, chasing butterflies
Butterflies, butterflies
Leave shadows on a gravel road
Signs of life in dead man's eyes
Shadows on a gravel road
