about

This is a collection of guitar tracks recorded in the fall of 2015 while making sound design experiments for Viktor Lukawski of ZOU Theatre as part of development work for a theatre project on Jerzy Kosinski. Detuned guitar, lots of effects pedals, and two small amps at very quiet bedroom volume in my apartment. You can hear my foot sometimes on the pedals. No other post-processing effects - not even reverb. The sound you hear is the sound of two very quiet amps in my bedroom.

In October 2019 I drove through northern Quebec, and through Labrador. There's very little to see in Labrador but a beautiful emptiness that my soul felt at home in. The Trans Labrador Highway is mostly a newly paved highway with almost nobody on it. It's like a backdoor to another world.

I was listening to this music as I was driving, and when the fog came with the darkness, these sounds seemed like they were coming from out there somewhere. It really is out there somewhere.

It seemed to fit. Listen to this when driving in rainy or oily weather, or with headphones on, maybe walking along train tracks. October twilight, November music.

The album cover is a photo from Labrador.

There is a melodic theme that appears on three different tracks in the later part of the set. It had a working title taken from Jerzy Kosinski's suicide note. "Call it eternity."
